Setup Auron Omni
Installation
To install Auron Omni, first download the latest version of the setup here and follow the instructions in the setup wizard.
The setup asks you to specify two directories:
- The program directory. This is where the program files are stored.
- The data directory. This is where the example files are stored and where Auron Omni stores your trigger scripts.
Right after the setup, before you can start the Auron Omni Manager, the server needs to be configured. To configure the server, start the Auron Omni Configuration Wizard.
Configuration
The Configuration Wizard completes the setup of your server based on the configuration type you choose.
Do not worry about making the wrong choice. You can restart the Configuration Wizard at any time to change the configuration.
Configuration Type
The following configuration types are available:
- Standalone. This is the best option for most installations. If you are unsure which type to use, select this option.
- Primary Server (HA). Use this option to set up a high availability server or a server that a client configuration can connect to.
- Secondary Server (HA). This option configures a secondary high availability server. The secondary server connects to an existing primary HA server.
- Client. This option configures the PC as a client for an existing primary server (HA) configuration. Use this option if you need local client installations to send SMS using Auron Omni.
Database Type
Auron Omni supports two types of databases:
- SQL Server or Azure. These options are recommended for production setups. SQL Server Express, the free version of MS SQL, also works.
- LocalDB. This is a local database option that is recommended for trial setups. This option requires no additional configuration, but it has limitations. For example, it cannot accept connections over the network.
Database Configuration
Specify where to store server data, including message data and archive data.
You can also choose to use or automatically upgrade an existing database.
If you expect to process a large number of messages, it makes sense to keep the archive database separate from the server database. For example, the archive database requires more space but can work with slightly slower access times.
Service User
Specify which user account runs the Auron Omni service.
It often makes sense to run the service under a different account than the local system account, especially when using Windows authentication for the database.
NOTE: When using Windows authentication for database access, make sure that the service user can also access the database.
Web Messenger
With the Web Messenger, you can send and receive messages using Auron Omni channels from your browser.
Select “Set up Auron Web Messenger in IIS” to let the Configuration Wizard automatically configure IIS for Web Messenger.
Web Messenger requires IIS and the Microsoft .NET Core Hosting Bundle.
IIS refers to Microsoft Internet Information Services. This is the default Microsoft web server included in every Windows Server setup. To use it, enable it through Server Manager.
Start Configuration
The Configuration Wizard lists all tasks required to complete the configuration. It starts these tasks automatically when you click Next.
When all tasks are completed, click Finish and start using Auron Omni.
