The SMPP protocol enables sending and receiving very high volumes of SMS over the internet. However, SMPP only has support for SMS. This is why a lot of providers are moving over to HTTP based API’s to support multiple message types.

The Auron SMS Server has excellent support for both SMPP as well as HTTP API’s.
